a)     Weather Scenario App

Weather scenario is a web service, which delivers weather scenarios (combination of past weather and weather forecasts) for Netherlands in a high spatial resolution and a temporal resolution of one hour for up to one year ago and nine days ahead.


b)    Workability Data App

Application that helps the farmers in order to decided the most suitable period for their spraying activities and warns users for not foreseen unfavorable weather conditions in respect of spraying. For that reason, weather prediction that is used by the farmer must be known.


c)     Scheduling App

The Scheduling application collects the required farm operations from the Farm Management Information System (FMIS) each time a new farm operation is planned or one of the planned farm operations is executed. It collects also the availability of resources (men and machinery) as specified by the FMIS. After each update of Workability Data from the Workability Data App an optimal schedule for the farm operations is calculated. The cost of the operation, including additional labor cost in overtime, the cost of inputs of which the quantity may vary by the time of application, and the effect on the yield level by the time of the operation (the timeliness cost) are factors determining the optimal schedule.



d)    CargoSwApp

The CargoSwApp application allows the shipping line operator to search for available cargo waiting for transport and to send a bid to the cargo owner. If the cargo owner accepts the bid, the shipping line operator receives the booking directly in CargoSwApp. He can then assess each booking with respect to the probability of cancellation and thus make it easier to use overbooking in a more effective manner.

CargoSwApp has also been extended with functionalities for cargo owners, namely the possibility to search the marketplace via CargoSwApp for transport services and to benchmark the services offered by various shipping lines.

The intention with CargoSwApp is that searching for transport services and cargo is based on real time information on available capacities and available cargo. CargoSwApp allows for immediate information exchange between the cargo owner and the carrier.



e)     Botanic Info App

The Botanic App offers anytime anywhere the correct product descriptions, trading codes (VBN codes) and availability to professional growers and traders in flowers and plants. Reduction of errors in communication and ordering is expected, which enhances the efficiency in the supply chain.


f)      Quality Prediction in the Horticulture chain

By gathering environmental data such as temperature or humidity in the direct environment of a plant during the production and/or distribution chain, a history can be build of the environmental conditions of the plant. These conditions are important predictors for the quality of the plant at different points in the chain. Using self-learning computer systems together with expert-knowledge we can predict the quality of the plant at these different points in the chain and ultimately at the retailer.


g)     Quality App

This app is relevant for quality experts and evaluators of the quality of flowers and plants throughout the supply chain. It comprises a data entry module for capturing the current quality characteristics of the product that are gathered in representative samples by quality professionals. Also it enables the recording of quality deviations and the addition of presentative product and clarifying deviation photographs. Based on the entered characteristics, the user is enabled to provide an overall quality estimate. In the background, all characteristics and deviations are coded according to the sector standards of VBN.


h)    Supply Chain Quality Monitoring App

To optimise supply chains for flower and plants delivery, quality conditions are important inputs. In this trial, innovative technologies are combined to realise real-time management of flower and plants conditions all through the supply chain. It combines technologies in the field of tracking & tracing like RFID, quality monitoring like wireless sensor networks and Internet like cloud computing and web services.



i)      BOXMAN

In logistics, the handling of food is one of the biggest sectors as many goods, ranging from frozen foods to fresh fruit and vegetables, need to be distributed from farm to fork of a client on a daily basis. In between many different actors act in the supply chain and need to handle the goods. Especially in the food distribution sector Returnable Transport Items (RTIs), for example boxes, containers or pallets, are key elements of an efficient supply chain. There are several RTI Pool Management Organizations (PMO) on the market who offer their own RTIs to clients like farmers, traders and retailers. Clients do not need to buy their own RTIs, but may instead rent needed ones on different schemes. The customers need to report every movement or use of an RTI to the according PMOs, which is a time-consuming task for both, retailer and PMO, as there are no standards whatsoever on how to report .

BOXMAN targets to simplify the management of different utilized RTIs by various PMOs used within the supply chain. Here, simple usable frontends shall be developed which shall automate the reporting duties of RTI movements for a PMO customer. The customer shall be able to see what was reported to which PMO and how many RTIs should be on stock. The PMOs will also benefit from a simplified interaction with their customers and gather more transparency on the current stock of their RTIs at each customer.


j)      RISKMAN

RISKMAN is collecting relevant data of a product from different sources, such as laboratory analysis, recalls, press reports, social media streams etc. The aggregated and prioritized news are provided to the quality managers, who can rank the quality of specific information items. By combing this collected data with the experts ranking, RISKMAN creates an early warning system. It empowers quality managers to react more quickly in cases of critical issues. The usage of information provided by the Product Information App (PIA) allows an easy warning of all involved actors along the supply chain.

k)    PIA (Product Information App)

PIA is an application that reaches beyond enterprise borders and realizes a chain encompassing exchange of information between actors across the whole food supply chain, reaching from production agriculture to retail. This application provides a solution for many problems the food chains are presently experiencing. It provides transparency across the chain on product characteristics, product quality, characteristics of production processes (e.g. inputs in agricultural production), logistics, tracking and tracing needs, and more. It also provides the basis for monitoring product quality and deliveries along the chain. At retail, PIA provides the interface for applications that communicate information to consumers. Beyond its reach across the chain, its innovation is in the separation of the information exchange into a sequence of individual apps that are run by individual enterprises, i.e. it is not based on a central data management approach. The central data management approach of previous systems has been the core barrier for adoption of information exchange solutions by the food sector. This innovative approach, enabled by the FIspace platform, has the potential of being adopted by the sector beyond individual applications.

The key features of PIA are:



l)      Greenhouse Crop Monitoring

The Greenhouse Crop Monitoring app aims to provide advice (mainly diagnostic) services for the development of crop, triggered by greenhouse farmers’ requests. Authorized experts will be linked with several farmers and consulting firms and will have the option to access resources like previous reports or supporting material related to their work for advising the crop’s development procedure.


m)  Greenhouse Crop Analyser

The Greenhouse Crop Analyser app aims to help a professional agronomist to create helpful consultancy reports that are generated based on farmers’ requests information (Greenhouse Crop Monitoring App). The crop expert performs the diagnosis by evaluating all the collected and produced information and considering the helpful report received from another consulting firm expert. The created consultancy reports are sent back to greenhouse farmer (Greenhouse Crop Monitoring App).


n)    Greenhouse Monitoring & Advice

The Greenhouse Monitoring & Advice app is used by the farmer to receive expert advice on the actions that must be taken inside the Greenhouse, in order to maximize the efficiency inside the Greenhouse. In addition, the app user has the ability to monitor the conditions in his Greenhouse using the Monitoring dashboard, on which the various sensors along with their current values are illustrated.


o)     Search for farmers app (Marketplace Operations)

Marketplace Operations Service (MOS) is one of the initial FIspace services (that serves as a standalone application as well), which provides the necessary functionality to the business stakeholders to create their service offers and demands.

MOS supports two main business domains, i.e., Agriculture and Transport & Logistics, providing the opportunity to the business partners to search in detail for service offers and demands that match their own preferences and criteria.
MOS provides basic CRUD operations for the service offers and demands, viewing the available offers of a particular domain, as well as requesting for available services using specific keywords with the help of a basic search mechanism.
One of the most important features of MOS is the automatic matchmaking mechanism. By the time a new service is submitted, an evaluation of the existing services takes place and notifies the interested stakeholder in case of positive outcome.
The above, in combination with a sophisticated search mechanism, provide the user with a wide range of tools to efficiently handle service offers and demands


p)    Complaint Management app

An app that allows customers to register their complaints about a product and a company to manage the received complaints

Allows an end-customer to register a complaint about a product.
Allows a company to associate complaint reasons with actions to be taken.
It allows a farmer to interconnect the application with either the ESIT (Hellenic National System of Food Traceability) traceability system or its farm management system and retrieve information from them in order to perform a basic complaint analysis either performing a standard set of checks for a number of agricultural products or performing rule-checking against the procedure transcribed by ESIT.
Allows a company to manage the complaints they receive. View their priorities, analyse them, delete them, order them etc.


q)    Product Recall app

This application allows customers to see if a particular product and LOT has been recalled for food safety reasons.

Allows an end-customer to see if a particular product and lot has been recalled. The user can either type in the serial number of the product, or scan it.
The backend allows an organisation to manage his list of recalled products.
The application also draws information from the Hellenic National System of Food Traceability, so it also reports a product as been recalled if it also contains ingredients that have been recalled.



r)     Shipment Status Application

The Shipment Status application supports the collaboration and the interaction between different business entities that ensure the monitoring and planning of the shipment. The audience of the application is represented by a group of users that are included in the monitoring process of a defined transport demand.


s)     Manual Event & Deviation Reporting Mobile Application

The application provides the users with a fast and efficient way of planning and monitoring the transportation activity, without losing time and manual effort for managing the flow of the goods starting from the transportation of the purchased materials for the production activity till the delivery of finished goods to the customers.


t)      Transport Demand Application (TD)

The Shipment Status application supports the collaboration and the interaction between different business entities that ensure the monitoring and planning of the shipment. The audience of the application is represented by a group of users that are included in the monitoring process of a defined transport demand.



u)    Farm Capture App

The simple, web-page-like app enables farmers to copy animal passport data (and more) as EPCIS events and master data on other aspects to an EPCIS repository. Other supply chain parties can capture and upload their events from their ERP systems and together compile the full data circle of the marketed meat product.


v)     Query App

The Query App is the backbone of the transparency system and enables standard EPCIS query operations. That means it enables queries about raw, intermediate or end-meat products. Such queries can be specific business locations, processes, time intervals, etc.


w)   Discovery App

Everything that occurs with meat, from birth of a calve until packaging for retailers has to be seen as an event that is stored in some EPCIS repository, whether from the supply chain party itself, or some shared repository. Many other apps, Query App, the Aggregation App and the Discovery App allows to store EPCIS events in distributed repositories. This will encourage to share data with supply chain partners and consumers, as the company has full control on its data and which part is shared with whom.


x)     Aggregation App

The Aggregation App collects and aggregates automatically traceability information about a given end or intermediate product. This app is based on the Query App and the Discovery App. Authorized requesters should get: place/ date of birth, date/ location of slaughtering of the processed animals; list of all parties who had custody of a product; list of distribution centres/ retail stores a product has been shipped to.


y)     Consumer App

Consumers want to know what they eat. Next to the price of meat they want to buy, they want to know where it comes from, if it is healthy, organic, halal, or kosher; and is it produced in a sustainable and animal friendly way? But so far they mainly have to rely on the limited information on paper labels. This app provides extensive digital information with a possibility for providing feedback The Consumer App is a ‘consumer’ variant of the Aggregation App and provides an agreed subset of traceability data to end-consumers. It is developed in collaboration with the Tailored Information for Consumers trial (TIC).



z)     Traffic Light App

This app allows supermarket customers to access important information about certain product attributes they might find useful. The app shows in a clear way if the attribute associated to the product is in a dangerous level, a normal level or a good level based on rules previously defined.


aa) Product Info TIC

The main goal of the Product Info TIC is to enable product information exchange between stakeholders of a supply chain and the final consumer enabling a bi-directional communication though the supply chain where producers/retailers provide information about the products they produce or sell and consumers are able to provide feedback about these products they consume and from which they get detailed information. To accomplish this task this app is tied to mobile application Tailored Product Information App – TaPIA

bb) Tailored Product Info App – TaPIA

TaPIA mobile application allows supermarket customers to access tailored information from products located in the supermarket based on their profile.
Customers can obtain information of a product by scanning it´s EAN code or searching manually by entering the product´s EAN code.
The application can provide to consumers static and dynamic information of a product according to a profile where each consumer can choose which product attributes he/she want to know . This application is adapted to each profile and range of information needs of consumers.
TaPIA allows the customers to provide a Like or Not Like feedback of the products and see the number of Likes and Not Likes provided by other customers.


cc)  Shopping list & Recipes App

The application includes both the Android and IOS version, each of which offers three major types of functionalities: shopping List management, recipes management, and product info management.

For the product info management function: users can customize product and recipe information by configuring catalogues in the profile of the main shopping list menu.
For the shopping list management function: users can create/edit/mark/share the favorite of the shopping list through typing or voice.
For the Recipe function, customers can view/vote/save the recipes provided by Plusfresc. In addition, customers can check/vote/save the specific recipe in their personal recipes.
For functional mutual recursion: user can add a new product name to a selected shopping list from the supermarket product catalogue directly, and check the shopping lists added with the product.


dd) Augmented Reality Product Info App

The application targets at providing product information through a simpler and more interactive way by scanning the specific product with the phone camera.

The scanning process is simple and more interactive than the traditional search in the product catalogue.
The product information such as product information, brand, votes and price will appear over the camera view. In addtion, the link of “Touch for more information” will lead the user to further details in the web browser.
The app is fully integrated with the Shopping list app which allows the customer presses the “Add to cart” button to save the product name into the Shopping list.


ee)  Push information App

The application offers the messaging service based on the customer subscription without repeated searching, including tailored offers and discounts through the private channel. Moreover, customers will be notified when the app is closed or even make the app read them for you.

To allow the retailer to push specific information to the customer, such as offers, customized discounts, birthday greetings, etc.
To allow the retailer to inform the consumers when a food alert arises.
To allow the consumer to send feedbacks regarding expired products or ratings about his purchased products.
